When Evil Seems to Win

Genesis 45:1–15

Twenty-two years after Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery, they stand before him in Egypt without realizing who he is.

Then Joseph finally says it: “I am Joseph.”

His brothers sold him. Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him. Prison took years from his life. From every angle, it looked like Joseph was losing.

But Joseph looks back and sees something they couldn’t see at the time:

“It was God who sent me here.”

That doesn’t make the evil good. It means evil didn’t get the final word.

This message explores what it means to trust God when doing the right thing seems to cost you, when other people seem to be winning, and when you can’t see what God is doing. Because when we stop trusting God, we start trying to force the outcome.

But God is faithful to what He has promised.

And the cross shows us the same truth on the largest scale: what looked like evil’s greatest victory became the way God brought salvation to the world.

When it looks like evil is winning, we can trust God enough to obey Him.
